Fortnite Replaces Mythic Weapons With Superpowers | Screen Rant
Season 4 of Fortnite has begun, and Epic Games has removed mythic weapons and replaced them with Marvel-themed superpowers. As per usual at the beginning of a season, Fortnite has added and removed several weapons and items from the game. However, some of these items have seemingly been replaced with super abilities.
Mythic weapons were introduced in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 and were obtained when players eliminated on of the mini-bosses located around the map. Only one of each mythic weapon or utility would appear each round, and they would be much stronger than normal weapons giving whoever wielded them a leg-up in battle. Some mythic items were upgrades to weapons, while others were completely unique items such as the grappler and shockwave launcher.
Fortnite Season 4 has seen the removal of mythic weapons and has instead replaced them with unique superpowered abilities. There are currently four different Marvel superpowers that players can obtain, and they are ridiculously overpowered. The first two powers are Doctor Doom's Mystical Bomb and Doctor Doom's Arcane Gauntlet. As players may have already guessed, these can be obtained by heading to the new location, Doctor Doom's Domain, and defeating the mini-boss in that location. Spoiler alert: it's Doctor Doom. The other two powers can be found at Quinjet Patrol sites and are Groot's Bramble Shield and Silver Surfer's Board.
The Doctor Doom items are strictly damage-dealing abilities that allow the player to shoot green lasers and explosives from their fingertips. These are devastating abilities that deal massive amounts of damage to both builds and players. Groot's Bramble Shield is similar to the Baller vehicle from previous Fortnite seasons, and it also has the ability to heal the player once inside. Lastly, Silver Surfer's Board operates similarly to a launchpad (which has been vaulted) allowing the player to safely launch away from enemies and redeploy their glider.
As the season progresses, there is a chance for more super abilities to be added to Fortnite. The current abilities are already causing quite the stir on social media as players have mixed opinions on the strength of these items. While the abilities do make the player feel like a superhero, their overpowered nature put players without abilities at an extreme disadvantage. Will these powers be nerfed? Probably not. But are they a ton of fun to abuse? Absolutely.
