CDC committee: Four groups including health care and essential workers should get COVID-19 vaccine first

0

A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention committee recommended that four groups of people get first access to a COVID-19 vaccine: health care workers, essential workers, people with medical conditions or diseases that make them high risk for contracting the virus, and people older than 65 years old. Some of those groups will likely overlap, such as an individual who has cancer but is also in his or her 70s, or a teacher with diabetes. The disclosure of groups was made Wednesday at the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices meeting. There are no authorized or approved vaccines that can prevent infections with COVID-19.
