10 Actual Places You Can Visit That Were Shown In The Office
A big part of The Office is that it's based in Scranton, Pennsylvania. As the Scranon Branch of Dunder Mifflin, the location comes up frequently in relation to other branches and the corporate offices in New York City. Even the characters talk about Scranton's charm and how it's home. Pam was unwilling to move to Philadelphia because Scranton was her hometown, Michael gave Jo Bennett a piece of coal as a goodbye gift because it's good luck in Scranton, and even Toby couldn't resist Scranton after moving to Costa Rica.
Shockingly, very little was filmed in Scranton. The entire series (give or take a few shots, including the intro) was shot in various locations around Las Angeles. And thanks to some eagle-eyed fans and inside information from The Office Ladies podcast, fans can visit spots the show actually filmed at.
10 The Face Of Dunder Mifflin: Chandler Valley Center Studios
In The Office, the characters claim Dunder Mifflin is in the Scranton Business Park. In real life, the cast actually filmed inside Chandler Valley Center Studios in Panorama City, California. The studio keeps the gate closed thanks to too many Office fans trying to get a peek inside and they added a sign to the front of the building. But besides those small details, the building still looks as it did in The Office. Fans can still park outside the studio and take pictures in front of the gate.
9 Michael's Condo
Michael was a nervous wreck when he bought his first home: a condo in a beautiful complex. Carol Stills was his realtor and future girlfriend who helped him get the home he dreamed of filling with children. Michael never does fill his condo with children but he does live in it for a while with Jan when she was fired from corporate. We saw a nice tour of the home in the iconic "Dinner Party" episode.
According to I Am Not A Stalker, the condo in real life is in a gated community but his condo is visible right off of Wyandotte Street in Reseda, California — not far from NBC Studios. The actual address is 7303 Bonnie Place in Reseda.
8 Visit Where Phyllis & Bob Vance Got Married!
In the third season, Phyllis and Bob Vance made it official by getting married. Everyone from the office was invited and it was a big episode for not just Phyllis but for the strange triangle between Jim, Karen, and Pam.
In the episode, Phyllis got married in a beautiful church with Michael hilariously pushing her father down the aisle beside her. In real life, the church they used was the First Church of North Hollywood, which can be found at 4390 Colfax Avenue Studio City.
7 Or Stop By Pam & Jim's House!
After Jim and Pam become more serious, Jim admitted to the camera that he bought his parents' house with the intention of setting up roots there with Pam. The only problem is that he did not tell Pam about his plan. She ended up loving the house and adored that Jim went through the trouble in buying her a home.
Pam and Jim fans can feel the same kind of love for the home that they did by seeing it for themselves at 13831 Calvert Street in Van Nuys, California. Fans have said the house still looks the same today as it did in the series, the only part that isn't clearly visible is the garage-turned-art studio that's in the back of the house.
6 Poor Richards Is Now Pickwick's Pub
Poor Richards is the neighborhood bar that everyone at Dunder Mifflin frequents. It's where they went for Saint Patrick's Day, where Meredith and Pam sang karaoke, where they did "the Scarn..." It's a legendary bar in "Scranton," according to the show.
Funny enough, the producers created Poor Richards themselves. In real life, the bar is called Pickwick's Pub and can be found at 21010 Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA. One fan went inside Pickwick's to see if it resembled the show and inside was a small mirror that says “Poor Richards Pub" on it as a nod to the show.
5 They Traveled To A West Coast Mall Instead Of The Steamtown Mall
The Steamtown Mall is a real mall in Scranton and is brought up often throughout the series. It's where Michael takes the ladies for Women's Appreciation (while ironically buying them underwear from Victoria's Secret) and it's where Dwight bought the crystal wizard from the shop who wouldn't let him in with blood-soaked hands. In reality, the cast did not travel to Scranton for these mall shots. They went to Westfield Fashion Square Mall in Sherman Oaks instead. Fans will notice the fountain where Michael threw his change into, the food court, and the Victoria's Secret.
4 You Don't Have To Go To Niagara Falls To See Where Jim & Pam Got Married
When Jim and Pam finally pulled the trigger and got married, they decided to get married in Niagra Falls in hopes that no one would want to travel there. However, everyone decided on going because Michael gave the office off Friday and Monday if they went. The church in the show was a cute combination of red wood and stone, which was seen when Jim was playing soccer with some kids before helping Pam with her veil. Fans can visit Congregational Church of the Chimes at 14115 W Magnolia Blvd in Sherman Oaks, CA. However, Jenna Fischer (Pam) and John Krasinski (Jim) did travel to Western New York to get the shot of Niagra Falls for the episode.
3 Go Rollerblading With Andy, Darryl, And Dwight
In the episode "Ultimatum,” Andy, Dwight, and Darryl admit they're all lonely and want to meet women. Darryl convinces them to pick up women at the bookstore but when that doesn't work out, they go to a neighboring skating rink to go rollerblading. The three men didn't do a good job of meeting women but they did have a fun time skating. Fans of the show can go rollerblading themselves at Skateland in Northridge, CA (18140 Parthenia St.). It's still open and apparently still looks the same.
2 Hansen Dam Isn't The Beach You'd Expect
"Beach Games" was a big episode for the workers of Dunder Mifflin. Not only did they get to leave the office and head to the beach for the day but they learn that Michael is leaving Scranton for a job at corporate, someone will be promoted within, and Pam missed Jim. There was a lot to take in.
In the show, the group looked like they were near a beautiful lake but it was actually filmed at a fake dam, Hansen Dam in San Fernando Valley. According to the episode's Wikipedia page, the crew chose the dam because it was "the bleakest lake they could find."
1 Schrute Farms
It would be a dream for many Office fans to show up to Schrute Farms and pick their own beets. However, the farm doesn't necessarily exist. Thanks to The Office Ladies podcast, Fischer and Kinsey said that Schrute Farms was filmed on Golden Oak Ranch (Placerita Canyon Road & Delden Road, Newhall, CA.). Golden Oak Ranch is owned and operated by Disney and has been used for many shows and movies. And while it's closed to the public, fans can still do a driveby to see where the action took place.
