Coronavirus: 11 new cases announced on Thursday (Update 2)

Eleven new coronavirus cases were announced by the health ministry on Wednesday afternoon, raising the total to 1,467.

The new cases are a result of 2,755 tests. The majority were tests on travellers – 1,619 – whereby five new cases were identified.

All five travellers were from Hungary, with three from Budapest and two Debrecen – both flights arrived on 26/8. From the Budapest flight, two of those who tested positive were connected to one another, while none of them had symptoms. As for the Debrecen flight, the two positive cases had no connection to each other.

A further four cases were identified after 125 tests via contact tracing and two cases were found after 621 tests were carried out as part of private initiatives.

From the contact tracing, one positive case is the spouse of a person who tested positive and had symptoms. The second person, who has symptoms, had the virus transmitted from his parents who had a recent travel history

The final two, from contact tracing, are from a similar family background and both have symptoms.

Four people are currently receiving hospital care relating to Covid-19, while one person is receiving increased care at the referral hospital.
