Sebastian Stan has shared a new behind-the-scenes photo from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Stan has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2011, but the upcoming Disney+ series will be the first time he has a lead role. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will explore the next chapter of Bucky Barnes' life, one that includes him working with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie).
After Avengers: Endgame set up the show, excitement for the MCU's first Disney+ show continued to grow. Disney announced that the series would begin streaming in August 2020 but that was before the coronavirus pandemic. Following the stop of production, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's release was pushed back. There is so far no update on when the first episode will debut on Disney+, and the overall delays to Phase 4 have left MCU fans growing antsy for new Marvel content.
The status of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's production might still be undetermined, but Stan is doing what he can to tide fans over. He shared a new BTS image on Instagram from the filming of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The photo itself isn't too revealing, and even though the caption doesn't confirm the image is from the MCU series, Stan's apparel helps clear this up. The dog tag that he's wearing around his neck is the same one Stan previously shared a photo of during production.
Stan's photo might not be as revealing as some might've hoped at this stage, but any The Falcon and The Winter Soldier content is welcomed at this point. If it wasn't for the variety of production issues that the series ran into, fans likely would have already seen at least the first episode of the show. Even though Disney and Marvel never gave a specific launch date for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, it was confirmed for August. Now that the last Friday of August is about to pass, there's no doubt that fans would've seen a lot of the series in a normal year.
Instead, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is currently waiting to resume production and finish the final few days it has left. Once cameras get rolling again, then perhaps Stan will share another photo to commemorate the occasion. Updates like these shouldn't be the only The Falcon and The Winter Soldier news that arrives in the coming weeks or months though. If Marvel plans for the show to still arrive on Disney+ sometime this year, then an official trailer for the series should be on the way. But, any official update on the release schedule or a trailer will likely have to wait until Marvel is confident that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier can be completed once Stan and his co-stars return to set.
