90 Day Fiancé: Why Brittany Banks' Ex-Husband Was Deported

0

Brittany Banks of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way made a move to Jordan to be with her love, Yazan Abo Horira, even though she was still married. The TLC star faced a dilemma in Amman when Yazan’s strict Muslim family asked Brittany to get married ASAP. However, now that Brittany returned to America in the mid-season finale, 90 Day Fiancé fans want to know if she is finally granted her divorce. But fans are also curious about Brittany’s ex-husband and his deportation to Haiti.

Twenty-six-year-old Brittany had a deep, dark secret that could potentially ruin her relationship with Yazan. Although the Palm Beach, Florida resident kept it hidden from her long-distance love, she spoke about her previous marriage openly to the camera on the introductory episode. Aspiring rapper Brittany shared that she was married to a man she knew since she was 17, who moved to the USA when he was three. The pair soon started dating and, after three or four years, decided to get married. “From our date of marriage, we were only together three or four months before he was deported,” confessed Brittany, who still thought it was a good idea to move to Jordan without being divorced. Yazan’s family already had issues with Brittany not being Muslim, so 90 Day Fiancé fans wondered how they’d react on hearing about her marriage. In the last episode, Brittany revealed that she had filed a divorce petition in her mother’s home city of Chicago, and decided to fly down for a hearing while still lying to Yazan. It all seemed shady to the Jordanian, but the 90 Day Fiancé couple’s future does depend upon Brittany’s divorce getting finalized with her Haitian ex.

Now, it has been revealed that Brittany’s unnamed ex-husband had a rocky past himself. Starcasm reported that the man didn't know he was not a US citizen. To make matters more complicated, he was involved in a few unlawful activities which lead to his deportation. He was arrested numerous times between 2011 and 2012 for driving without a license, possessing marijuana, tampering with evidence, and running away from police. But January 2014 is when he took the worst hit. Brittany's then-boyfriend, who was 22, was pulled over for speeding, but officers found he was carrying Xanax pills and $1850 in cash. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, and three months later was involved in a hit and run. When his car broke down after the accident, police who arrived on the scene to help found more illegal substances like meth and molly. A fake ID he presented to police invited more trouble. He pled guilty to seven total charges, including three felonies in May 2014.

The 90 Day Fiancé celeb’s ex-husband was detained by ICE in August 2014 during his probation and informed that deportation proceedings had started. Brittany and he were married by March 30, 2015, but just a day later a judge denied his application for withholding of removal. He claimed he came to the US from Haiti using his brother's passport at just nine years old, but he was unaware he wasn't a US citizen. All of his siblings were US citizens, as were his father and step-mother. He believed he was one too, after being told that repeatedly by his step-mother. However, his pleas were denied and he was soon deported. Brittany’s ex-husband is apparently still in Haiti, even though there are rumors of Brittany having finally gotten her divorce.

Whether or not Brittany reveals the happy news of her divorce to Yazan on the second half of 90 Day Fiancé remains to be seen. But the super tease reveals intense scenes between the couple where someone mentions something about Yazan's life being “in danger.” The threats could be a result of Yazan’s community finding out about Brittany’s social media profiles, or some new catastrophe altogether. Whatever it may be, it looks like the rest of her journey on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way is not going to be smooth-sailing for Brittany Banks.
