Everything to Know About Fox's I Can See Your Voice Hosted By Ken Jeong

0

Music meets mystery on reality TV! No, it’s not The Masked Singer but its new companion I Can See Your Voice that’s all set to launch on Fox this month. With Ken Jeong taking an upgrade from his panelist position to a host, I Can See Your Voice was first announced in January 2020. As Fox forays into creating more American versions of South Korean singing-competitions, here’s what to know about the show’s format and celebrity guests.

I Can See Your Voice, also known as ICSYV originally launched on South Korea’s famous Mnet network in February 2015. So far, the “mystery music game show” has had 7 seasons and about 95 episodes. I Can See Your Voice comes from Korea’s CJ ENM, the same company behind NBC’s Better Late Than Never. Created by Lee Seon-young and currently hosted by award-winning K-Pop singer Kim Jong-kook, the show follows a simple format. Each week, a pop-star or comedian will be helped by a “tone-deaf detective team,” to figure out whether the mystery singer is a good or a bad one. Judging by rounds of lip sync challenges, hidden clues, and true-or-false evidence, the celebrity will pick the singer who they think can sing.  However, actual singing takes a back-seat in this nail-biting competition where the final remaining mystery singer gets to croon only at the end, on the “Stage of Truth” with the celebrity guest. If the survivor manages to hit all the right notes, they’re in for a special prize. But here’s the reality TV twist – if the final singer is actually the bad one, they are the ones who get to take home all $100,000! The US version of I Can See Your Voice will be its 12th reproduction, as the show had multiple seasons in Germany, Indonesia, Thailand, and an upcoming variation in the UK. But, what is it that makes Fox’s I Can See Your Voice worth seeing?

As per EWI Can See Your Voice will see Jeong as the host, with Curb Your Enthusiasm's Cheryl Hines and Masked Singer finalist Adrienne Bailon-Houghton (Flamingo) of Cheetah Girls fame as the panelists.  They will be joined by a new celebrity every week who will either be the guest detectives or the musical guests. The Masked Singer contestants Kelly Osbourne (Ladybug) and Donny Osmond (Peacock) will make special appearances on the singing reality show, along with Nick Lachey, Arsenio Hall, Niecy Nash, Bob Saget, and Finesse Mitchell.

The singing competition was one of Fox's first non-scripted series to have resumed production with no audience to follow COVID-19 safety protocols.  I Can See Your Voice will premiere on September 23 on Fox right on the heels of  The Masked Singer’s season 4 launch.

Fox will also be revealing a “sneak peek” episode of The Masked Singer's new season on Sunday, September 13 following the first NFL double-header of the season. “It’s no secret that viewers need a little fun and escape now and, as a companion to an all-new season of The Masked Singer, this will be a fantastic night of family entertainment – and a fantastic night of Ken Jeong," said Fox Entertainment chief Rob Wade to Deadline.
