Samsung just unveiled its first 5G laptop to utilize Intel's 11th Gen Tiger Lake mobile processors by way of the Galaxy Book Flex 5G. The new laptop utilizes the Intel Evo platform and features Wi-Fi 6 and 5G connectivity. As its name implies, it features a 360-degree hinge to transform it from a traditional laptop into a tablet-like PC. Currently, there's no pricing information or release window for the laptop just yet, but that's likely coming down the pipeline soon enough.
Samsung has been busy in the smartphone arena as well. Preorders for the Galaxy Z Fold 2, the successor to the original Galaxy Fold, went live on September 1. Earlier this year in February, the Galaxy Z Flip debuted, another intriguing folding phone that resembled the new Motorola Razr. New renditions of the Note series, including both the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra are currently available for purchase, but those content to remain with the Galaxy S series can pick up the new Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra. The addition of a laptop to the fold (literally) is great news for consumers who prefer Samsung's build quality across their entire electronics ecosystem.
Samsung has gone to great lengths to make this new laptop an attractive prospect for casual tech owners and those looking for a meatier computer. The Galaxy Book Flex 5G includes a 13.3-inch FHD touch-screen panel, a thin and light design, and a 360-degree hinge for you to flip over the screen as you please. It can be configured with an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor and utilizes Intel Irix Xe graphics. This is bolstered with up to 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 512GB of NVMe SSD storage. In terms of camera, it comes with a user-facing 13MP camera as well as a 720p front-facing camera.

The Galaxy Book Flex 5G has just about anything users need to make it a great solution for travel. It comes with a built-in S Pen like the Note smartphone series. It's stored in the front of the unit and can be put away into a spring-loaded recess when done. If the keyboard is preferred for note-taking or communication, it features backlit keys and dual 5W speakers with AKG's Smart Amp.
Of course, connectivity is one of the most important aspects of this full-featured laptop. It includes 5G support of course, as well as Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1. In terms of interfacing, it will come with a USB Type-C port, USB 3.0 Type-A port, Thunderbolt 4 port, HDMI port, and a 3.5pi headphone jack. It will also support SIM and microSD cards. Its 69.7Wh battery is rated for "more efficient life and instant wake."
Samsung has yet to offer preorder or pricing information. For anyone looking to make the jump to this 5G-powered PC, it's a good idea to watch the official Samsung news feeds to lock in a product when the laptops do go live. In the meantime, there are always plenty of smartphones from the manufacturer to peruse.
