Love Island USA: Official App Exposes Calvin & Moira Were Last Place In The Voting

0

The first public vote of Love Island USA season 2 saved Calvin Cobb and Moira Tumas, but the fans are seeing very different results on the show's official app. At the time of this writing, the second season of Love Island USA has been on the air for two weeks. The six current couples living in the villa are Cely Vazquez and Johnny Middlebrooks; Kierstan Saulter and Carrington Rodriguez; Justine Ndiba and Caleb Corprew; Mackenzie Dipman and Connor Trott; Lauren Coogan and Tre Forte; and Moira Tumas and Calvin Cobb. On the episode that aired on Friday, September 4, the fans were asked to vote for the most compatible couple on the show.

During the Sunday, September 6 episode of Love Island USA, host Arielle Vandenberg revealed the results of this public vote. Arielle said that the three couples who had the most votes would be automatically safe from being dumped. Alternatively, the three couples who received the fewest votes would be at risk of being eliminated. According to Arielle, the Top 3 couples of the week were Cely & Johnny, Justine & Caleb, and Moira & Calvin. Consequently, Kierstan & Carrington, Lauren & Tre, and Mackenzie & Connor were put in risk of leaving the show. However, the fans have noticed a discrepancy between what was said on the show and what is shown on the official Love Island app.

As pointed out by @taylorlbee (tweet seen below), the official Love Island USA app showed very different results last night from what was revealed during the episode. The show announced that the "Who do you think is the most compatible couple?" poll would be used as the basis for which couple would be eliminated from the villa by the public. However, the poll results shown on the app were: Cely & Johnny (81.8%), Justine & Caleb (8.3%), Mackenzie & Connor (4.3%), Lauren & Tre (2.1%), Kierstan & Carrington (1.8%), and Moira & Calvin (1.7%). These results show that Moira & Calvin received the least amount of votes, and indicate that Mackenzie & Connor should not have been among the Bottom 3 couples of the week.

Almost a full day has passed since last night's Love Island USA episode. At the time of this writing, the official app is showing the following results for the same poll referenced above: Cely & Johnny (80.7%), Justine & Caleb (8.9%), Mackenzie & Connor (4.1%), Kierstan & Carrington (2.2%), Lauren & Tre (2.1%), and Moira & Calvin (2.0%). The numbers have varied slightly, but Moira & Calvin are still in last place in the poll... reinforcing the confusion surrounding their safety in the villa. It is not unheard-of for reality shows to manipulate results in order to keep individuals who bring in ratings. With that said, it is strange that the show deliberately disclosed the poll results on its official app despite not following the decisions that were actually made by the public.

The show must go on in the Love Island USA villa, and there's no denying that Moira and Calvin deserve a little more time to get to know one another. However, the fans are still left confused by the show's decision to keep a couple that was so clearly in last place.
