Nick Bosa, Dee Ford back at 49ers but top wide receivers still out as Week 1 practices begin.
SANTA CLARA — It only was a walk-through, mid-day session but, well, this is Week 1 of the 49ers’ season, so Monday’s every move seemed significant for a Super Bowl-seeking squad.
Here is a roll of call of which players participated and who did not after missing time in recent practices:
Linebacker Fred Warner (COVID-19 reserve): Out.
He went on the list last Monday and last practiced Aug. 28.
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel (foot): Out.
Doctors will huddle Tuesday to review scans of the left foot he broke in June.
Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (hamstring): Out.
Last practiced Aug. 23, when he sustained a mild strain to his left hamstring.
Fullback Kyle Juszczyk (hamstring): In.
He’d been out of practice since Aug. 27 and was initially listed as “week to week.”
Tight end George Kittle (hamstring): In.
He returned last week after tightness kept him out of practice for a week.
Defensive end Nick Bosa (leg): In.
A leg strain Aug. 21 proved more concerning than initially feared so this was his first time back in team action.
Defensive end Dee Ford (calf): In.
An Aug. 23 strain to his right calf kept him out of the next two weeks’ of practices.
Center Ben Garland (ankle): Out.
His return from an Aug. 18 ankle sprain will be closely watched all week to see if he’ll settle the starting lineup or not.
Tight end Ross Dwelley (foot): In.
He came back last week from a foot issue and is part of the roster’s four-man tight end corps.
Cornerback Jason Verrett (hamstring): Out.
A hamstring strain Wednesday may not be major except that his career has been waylaid by leg issues.
Cornerback K’Waun Williams (calf): In.
He missed almost all of camp with a calf strain but came back last week, and the 49ers cut his temporary fill-in, Jamar Taylor.
