Which Goonies Character Are You Based On Your Zodiac Sign?
In 1985 a group of teenagers go on a search for a pirate's treasure. Their adventure was epic - full of booby traps, near-death experiences, and even a family of criminals. The Goonies remains a favorite for people of all ages, not just who grew up with the tale.
The characters in the movie have incredibly distinct personalities, allowing them to fill certain character tropes, but also allowing the audience to identify with the one who seems most like them. For the audience members who wonder just which Goonie (or Fratelli) they would be, after a careful examination of the characters, these are their zodiac signs.
12 Aries: Andy
Andy appears to be the typical '80s popular girl. She's a cheerleader who has the richest kid in town interested in dating her. That's mostly where the similarities end, however, as she's a little more reckless than most of the popular girls are typically portrayed.
Andy rushes into situations without really thinking about them, like letting Troy drive her and Stef around, or following Brand into a seemingly abandoned restaurant because she's scared. Her impulsivity ends up placing her on a path to adventure just like any Aries.
11 Taurus: Data
Data is full of good ideas that don't always get executed properly, but that's okay because his friends know he will always come through in a pinch. Data has an invention for every occasion.
He's a Taurus because those born under the sign tend to appreciate art, be incredibly patient, and also incredibly stubborn. Data's art just happens to be more scientifically based as he creates his "pinchers of power," "bully blinders," and "slick shoes." Despite a lot of his inventions not working out the first time, he keeps going, having the patience to work out the problems and the diligence to see his work through.
10 Gemini: Rosalita
Rosalita doesn't get a lot of screen time, and the screen time she gets at the beginning of the movie is mostly used for (dated) comedic relief. Mrs. Walsh hires her, even though she doesn't speak English, to help pack up the house for their move. With Mrs. Walsh's broken arm, she needs all the help she can get.
Rosalita, despite her misgivings after Mouth purposely mis-translates Mrs. Walsh's instructions, sticks with the family, continuing to help. She exhibits the Gemini trait of being accepting of changing circumstances, able to read the people around her despite being fed false information, and seems to pretty quickly get along with Mrs. Walsh.
9 Cancer: Chunk
Chunk might be the most sensitive of his group of friends, and with good reason since they spend a lot of their interactions in the movie teasing him about his weight and his family. He gets his feelings hurt, but he also bounces back, in good spirits, and connects with people quickly.
All of those are marks of a Cancer. The ultimate Cancer in pop culture is Sailor Moon - a deeply empathetic character who manages to befriend just about anyone. That's Chunk as he befriends Sloth and saves his friends.
8 Leo: The Fratelli Brothers
The Fratelli brothers can't get along to save their own skins - quite literally. They compete for their mother's attention and always want to be the one credited when the plan goes right. The two of them show us what more dysfunctional Leos look like.
A Leo is often the one who wants to be the hero. They love to have a good time and have everyone looking at them. That's why they tend to be the star of the show. Some Leos, however, can take that need for attention to extremes, like the Fratelli brothers.
7 Virgo: One-Eyed Willie
Willie might not have any lines in the movie, but he's there in every frame once Mikey and his friends find their map. We don't even get to flash back to his heyday, but we do see just how meticulous Willie is.
Once Willie amasses his vast pirate fortune, he hides it, and his ship inside a network of caves. He plans out everything to keep the treasure for himself - even in death. Willie has most of his crew killed after setting up a network of deadly traps, complete with an organ created from actual bones. He had some serious commitment to his plan and his aesthetic. Very Virgo.
6 Libra: Mouth
Mouth is the biggest prankster of the movie. He loves to stir up trouble and see what happens. Mouth also, however, has a bit of a softer side that shows he might be just a bit jaded by the hand he and his friends have been dealt.
Libras tend to be about fairness and a world of balance. They're very social. They can be very flirty or very diplomatic depending on the situation. That's why Mouth tends to find himself as the person speaking for the group. Of course, Mouth is also the one who is most disappointed when it looks like the plan to save their homes might not pan out. It's Mouth who remarks that he's taking the wishes back that didn't come true in the well, showing that he's aware of the unfairness of the situation.
5 Scorpio: Mrs. Fratelli
We don't know a lot about Mrs. Fratelli. Her sons call her "mama," and she didn't exactly treat them well growing up. She's also a career criminal, but it's never explicitly stated just what her laundry list of crimes includes.
Her air of mystery is mostly what lands her as a Scorpio. She clearly cares about her family, but she doesn't show it very well. That's right in line with Scorpios keeping walls up to protect themselves.
4 Sagittarius: Stef
Stef might be the most mature of the Goonies. After all, she spends the movie trying to keep everyone in line and being unable to succeed. Sagittarius is also one of the most mature of the zodiac signs.
They're often seen as the storyteller or the scholar of the zodiac because of how much they love learning and how philosophical they can get in their observations of the world. While much of Stef's observations are cloaked in sarcasm, she certainly fits the bill.
3 Capricorn: Brand
Mikey's big brother is very focused on improving his lot in life. He works out on a regular basis, takes care of his little brother even when he doesn't want to, and saves up money from lawn mowing jobs to get himself a bike. Brand works hard to secure his dreams, even if it takes him a long time.
Capricorns are the most ambitious of the zodiac, and the ones who work the hardest to achieve their ambitions. It's no wonder Brand falls under the sign. His sense of duty has him going on a treasure hunt with Mikey as well, even if it's not how he wants to spend his night.
2 Aquarius: Mikey
Though Mouth, Chunk, and Data are all arguably louder, bigger personalities than Mikey, Mikey is also clearly the leader among his group of friends. It's Mikey who sets them on their unusual path to save their homes, and it's Mikey who leads the charge to rally them when they think they can't make it to the end of the hunt.
An Aquarius is a sign that forges their own path. They aren't content to do what everyone wants them to do, and are sometimes seen as rebels. Mikey is certainly a leader amongst a rebellious group of kids.
1 Pisces: Sloth
Sloth spends a lot of his life sheltered from the world by his family - in chains. He has a love for adventure movies and, when given the chance, he's able to connect with people quickly, as he does with Chunk.
Pisces are deeply intuitive and imaginative. With a creative soul and a need for friendship, Pisces can make emotional bonds quickly, but they can also be easily hurt.
