Dunelm shopper left baffled by confusing sticker on wooden chopping board claiming it can’t be used as a chopping board
ONE Dunelm shopper was left completely baffled this week when she purchased a new chopping board.
Twitter user Becks took to the social media site to share her confusion after going to use her new kitchen accessory.
Sharing a snap of the back of the wooden board and it’s sticker, she wrote: “So, Dunelm…what is this piece of wood for then?! @DunelmUK.”
She was referring to the sticker which read: “Wipe clean only, wipe up spills immediately to avoid staining. Do not soak. Do not use as a chopping board.”
A member of Dunelm’s team were quick to reply and wrote: “Hi Becks, I am very sorry to see you have noticed our error on our chopping board label, please be advised we are aware of this error and this has been raised to our merchandising team.”
However, other Twitter users were keen to find out more one person replied to Dunelm: “Is it a board to sit your actual chopping board on?”
But Dunelm didn’t exactly set the record straight, and said: “Hi Frank, Thank you for your comments on this product. We are aware of this error which has been sent to the appropriate department for them to investigate this internally.”
But the comments didn’t stop there as many Twitter users found the whole thing hilarious.
“This is why I have trust issues,” one person joked, while another said: “To chop or not to chop. That is the question.”
A third person added: “Archaeologists believe it may have been used for ritual purposes.”
The gaffe comes after another woman purchased a marble chopping board on Amazon last month and got slightly more than she bargained for.
She purchased a pair of the Lilly’s Kitchen cutting boards but when they arrived the marble board featured a rather unfortunate design flaw with a large phallic shaped pattern in the marbling.

Clearly tickled, her pal posted a snap of the rather rude looking kitchen equipment on Twitter.
Captioning her post, she wrote: “My friend ordered these cutting boards and this is what she got.”
Her tweet has since gone viral, amassing more than 330,000 likes after her followers were left in stitches.
