When it was announced that the TLC twins will be getting their own spin-off, Darcey & Stacey, fans were overjoyed at getting to know the Silva family better. Mr. Mike Silva didn’t let any of their hopes down with his charming personality and accompanying witticism. Of course, him spilling the secrets of the Darcey & Stacey stars from episode 1 itself was an added bonus. No wonder fans think that Darcey and Stacey’s father Mike Silva is the hero of the show!
Darcey, 45 along with her twin support Stacey have been 90 Day Fiancé royalty with their back-to-back appearances on the reality show. Fans saw Darcey living through disastrous relationships one after the other with Jesse Meester and then Tom Brooks. While Stacey stayed apprehensive about her sister’s choices throughout, she herself continued a five-year relationship with Albanian boyfriend Florian. But as Darcey’s heart got trampled upon twice, Stacey too was caught in a whirlwind when Florian was caught in a cheating scandal. This time around, Darcey was the one seeking out for her Silva sister. It looked like their twin-bond could be in trouble on Darcey & Stacey but when 90 Day Fiancé fans finally met Mike Silva, they finally saw that silver lining on their TV screens!
If only the world would have heeded Mr. Silva’s advice about the coronavirus situation. After having spent 24 years working in China, and being home “twice a year for two weeks at a time,” as Darcey confessed, this could have been the longest trip for Mike back home. So when Darcey and Stacey revealed their plans of shifting base to Los Angeles for their fashion brand House of Eleven, he suggested them against it giving the rising threat of COVID-19. “I have first-hand knowledge about how devastating the COVID-19 pandemic can be,” shared Mike before adding that he lucky had left the country just before the lockdown was announced. “Your life is much more important than a few dollars,” Silva Sr. told his daughters as he asked them to cancel their tickets, before revealing the truth about how “just going to the park is dangerous.” The Darcey & Stacey star had earlier won fans over after confronting his daughter’s boyfriend Florian over the cheating allegations with Shanti Zohra.
90 Day Fiancé fans across the internet are praising Mike Silva for his good advice. “Darcey and Stacey’s father is laying down some facts. Goof for him. I wish he had been a public speaker 9 months ago. Good job dad,” wrote a Twitter user. “Darcey and Stacey are lucky to have a smart, informed father like Mike to guide and protect them because they don’t even keep up with the news,” tweeted another. A TLC viewer commented on how “Darcey & Stacey’s father was more serious about COVID-19” than the officials.
However, a few other 90 Day Fiancé viewers have also been critical of Mike, who works as the Chairman at Maison Worley Parsons, for apparently supporting his daughters via their business or buying them a house. In all probability, it’s just his fatherly love, since Darcey and Stacey Silva have a net worth of millions. Owing to his popularity Mike can be seen a lot more in the next few episodes of Darcey & Stacey as his daughters continue to deal with more drama.
