Mamma Bird is thinking ' where did *he* come from??
Sunday Cinema - whimsy time... the back story being:
Salisbury Cathedral Peregrines adopt a youngster.
On 31 May two peregrines were poisoned at Clee Hill in Shropshire leaving three orphaned chicks. The RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) contacted the Cathedral and asked if they would adopt one of the chicks thus offering it the chance to be a wild bird rather than a hand reared bird.
The Cathedral was chosen because the nesting area is particularly safe and there was only one chick in the nest - and the nest had the added advantage of having cameras on it allowing the handlers to observe the adoption process safely and at (almost) first hand.
The two and a half week old chick was introduced to the falcons on the morning of 7 June. This is his story...
