JUNIOR 4NCL Report for Round 3
JUNIOR 4NCL – 17/09/20 – 6pm
Round 3: Dundee City Juniors 5, Warwickshire Bears G 3
What a incredible result by our juniors against a side who out graded them by a fair bit on all boards!
On board one Rishi Vijaykumar J9 (1002) is proving to be a handful for his opponents as he makes it two out of two against a 1082. Amazing to see him grow as a chess player over the last few months!
Now Rishi may be the backbone of the team but he can’t do it on his own and needs backup. Well he got the support he needed with Alexander Barron-Majerik J9 (221) also winning both his matches on board 3 against a (1032)! What an “out of this world” double result by Alexander! I think he must have been putting his time in lock down to good use!
On board 2 Ramit Kanodia J13 (900) managed to share the spoils with his (1030) opponent (1 each)! I think we have yet to see the best from Ramit, but I have every confidence he will take another burst forward soon.
On board 4 Haoqi Liu (200) is finding things a little tough but I am sure he is taking something out of every match and hopefully it will not belong before he reaps the rewards. For now his opponent was just too strong for him (895), and Haoqi lost both matches.
Dundee City Juniors sit in 5th place on the same points as the second placed team, but behind on board points.
There will be no rest bite in round 4 as their next match is against Leicestershire Juniors 3 who sit in 3rd place on board points and won their last match 8 – 0! They are the stronger side grading wise and it will be a big test for our juniors, but you know what they say, “The bigger they are, the harder they fall!” I know they are not only up for the task; they have the ability to do the task!
Congratulations lads on a wonderful performance once again!
