The Fast & Furious Family, Ranked By Likability | ScreenRant

0

When one thinks about the Fast and Furious franchise, there's another "F word" that always comes to mind: family. Ahead of all the explosions and cars and stunts and death-defying experiences, the series of nine— soon to be ten— films are all about a group of vigilantes coming together to form a family.

Furious 7, which came after the death of Paul Walker, ratchets this sentiment up to an exponential degree. Not every character in Fast and Furious is part of the family, but redemption is always waiting for those who seek to kick back with some beers. It's just that some of these members of the family are more likable than others, as it goes with any family.

10 Deckard Shaw

Speaking of characters who sought redemption, Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw is the franchise's most prominent example of a villain becoming a hero. Shaw earned his spot in the family by rescuing Dom's son, Brian.

Granted, Shaw also had a hand in the murder of one of their best friends. But there's nothing that Dom can't overlook in the name of family. He can even overlook how detestable and unbearable Shaw is.

9 Dominic Toretto

Dom does not fare much better when it comes to likability. Essentially the main character of the franchise, as portrayed by portrayed by Vin Diesel, Dom is certainly the most well-known character. However, he's also the most insufferable.

Rarely does Dom show any amount of enthusiasm. He's always brooding and always seems burdened by some unknown drama. Dom may be the leader of the family, but many other characters are more entertaining.

8 Gisele Yashar

Even Gisele, who appears in only a fraction of these films, is a more likable character than Dom. In just three appearances, Gal Gadot's Gisele makes a big impact and it is genuinely gutting when she is killed.

However, even though the fans rooted for Gisele, there is still no overlooking her occasional lack of charisma. It's not her fault— after all, her character is frequently relegated to a backseat role.

7 Tej Parker

Ludacris' member of the family, Tej, is the first entry into an upper tier of likability among the family. Tej is always extremely entertaining and is frequently a solid character for laughs.

Not to mention, Tej repeatedly attempts to serve as a neutral party in the realm of organized racing and money making. He's a vital part of the family and a fun character, too.

6 Luke Hobbs

Few characters have made as bombastic and dominant an entrance into a franchise Luke Hobbs. Played by Dwayne Johnson, Hobbs originally manifests as an antagonist who's after Dom and the family.

Of course, like many characters from the series, Luke eventually sees the merits of Dom, Brian, Letty, and the gang. It's always fun to see a character flip like this, but Hobbs was certainly much more tolerably depicted than Shaw. The Rock just oozes charisma, after all.

5 Brian O'Conner

There would be no room for characters like Hobbs and Shaw to redeem themselves in the eyes of Dom if Brian hadn't done it first, all the way back in the first Fast film. After all, Brian was an undercover task force member at first.

But his flip to Dom's side was the most well-done in the series and he ended up being the heart of the franchise. How could anyone not love Brian with that diamond smile and the hope for happiness that always rested behind his eyes?

4 Mia Toretto

Brian couldn't have been the heart of these films without Mia, though. As the eventual romantic partner of Brian— and the sister of Dom— Mia plays a pivotal role in the franchise, even if she's not always at the center of the action.

That's what makes Mia so likable, though— she's not always one of the speed racers and she's mostly interested in raising a family and finding peace in her life. Mia doesn't seek the thrills and her character is a refreshing, amiable antidote to the high-octane franchise.

3 Roman Pearce

Roman absolutely deserves to be in the top three most likable characters from the family. He has some of the most fun stunts— Tyrese Gibson is always hilarious throughout them, too— and is a crucial player in the family's myriad heists.

Additionally, Roman is a character who operates by his own strategies, but in a way that is cohesive for the rest of the family. When they observe Roman's proclivity for lying his way out of trouble, they find it amusing, rather than annoying. He has the most fun dynamics.

2 Han Lue

Han is one of the most likable characters from the family because he's one of the most beloved characters in the entire series. Han's role in the family's heists is to be a figure who blends in and stealthily sneaks around.

However, his role in the family is to be the emotional glue. It's always so delightful to see Han's charming relationship with Gisele. But it's also lovely to watch Han just have fun with his friends! Han is so likable— and always snacking— that it wouldn't be a bad idea to be friends with him in real life, too.

1 Letty Ortiz

Could it be anyone else at number one? When it was announced that there would be a spin-off of the franchise called Hobbs & Shaw, there was skepticism. When there were rumors of a Letty spin-off, the world was all in.

That's because Michelle Rodriguez's Letty character is the most likable in the entire family. She's not the funniest or the most exciting or the most charming. But she has all of these qualities rolled into one package that makes her a gripping character and one that is easy to root for endlessly.
