Man Utd player ratings: Rashford and Fernandes on fire but Greenwood flops after summer woes with England
BRUNO FERNANDES ensured Manchester United picked up their first win of the season in hugely dramatic fashion.
Seconds after Solly March thought he had snatched a last gasp equaliser, Neal Maupay was adjudged to have handballed it in the box.
The Red Devils fell behind through Neal Maupay’s cheeky penalty before Lewis Dunk put through his own net just minutes later.
Rashford then pulled off a moment of brilliance by showing terrific composure to fire United in front in the second half.
The visitors rode their luck at times with Brighton hitting the woodwork FOUR times.

DAVID DE GEA: Out-foxed for Neal Maupay’s clever Panenka penalty. Spent plenty of time screaming at his defence as chances rained in with the woodwork of his goal rattled four times. Showed great reactions with a late save before Brighton equalised. 6.
AARON WAN-BISSAKA: Nobody loves a tackle more than the United right back whose long legs wrap around his opponent earning him ‘The Spider’ nickname. He was at it again at Brighton, but his flank was too often exposed. 5.
VICTOR LINDELOF: Under pressure for his place with Eric Bailly fit again. Certainly this was a better performance than his error strewn display against Crystal Palace on the opening day. 6.
HARRY MAGUIRE: Solskjaer called on him to get more goals from set plays and while he may not have got the final touch for the United equaliser he certainly forced Lewis Dunk into the own goal.
He was there in injury time to get the header in that won the penalty for handball. Still looked suspect at the back especially faced with pace. 6.
LUKE SHAW: Must be difficult for him to concentrate with United linked to so many left-backs. He remains a top quality defender and a threat going forward as he proved in winning the free kick that lead to his side’s equaliser. 7.
PAUL POGBA: It was all very lackadaisical again. There seems to be no drive in him and he gets dispossessed too often.
Rightly had the penalty awarded against him overturned. Understandably subbed on 65 minutes after also being replaced after 67 against Crystal Palace. 5.
BRUNO FERNANDES: What a game for him. Clumsily conceded the penalty for Brighton’s opener and lost his man for their late equaliser. But made up for it with a superb dead ball delivery to set up United’s equaliser and played the through ball for Rashford’s goal.
Then in the tenth minute of injury time he gets the winner from the spot. He has now been directly involved in a goal in seven of his eight away Premier League games scoring seven and assisting three. 9.
NEMANJA MATIC: Alert to Fernandes’ delivery to fire the ball back across goal and force Dunk into an own goal for United’s equaliser.
Did a decent job in front of the back four and sometimes in retreating to a place between the centre-backs. 6.

MASON GREENWOOD: You have to wonder if his travails while on England duty are still playing on his mind. Looks to have lost a bit of his spark. Did find the net but Rashford was offside when he set him up in the first half. 5.
ANTHONY MARTIAL: Anonymous through large parts of the game. Top scored for United last season with 23 but tailed off towards the end of the campaign and now has just one goal in his last eight. 5.
MARCUS RASHFORD: Twice he was caught offside to deny Greenwood and himself a goal but what a way to respond just three minutes after having his strike ruled out.
Ran from his own half to latch on to Fernandes through ball and kept his head as he twisted this way and that before dispatching his finish in off Dunk. 8.
