Animal Crossing: Every New Fish Coming in October | Screen Rant

0

It’s almost a new month, and fans of Animal Crossing: New Horizons can look forward to a few new creatures swimming around the bodies of water on their islands. Because of the real-time game mechanics, the seasons shift for players in the game just the same as they do in the real world. In the Northern hemisphere, autumn is just beginning, while in the Southern hemisphere, spring has arrived. For the Northern hemisphere, this means very few new fish as the days grow colder and darker, while the Southern hemisphere will start to see plenty more as days lengthen and warm.

There are 80 species of fish in the game so far for players to catch, with 42 total in the Northern hemisphere in October and 39 in the Southern hemisphere. Players can make quite a few bells for catching and selling fish, or they can seek out new creatures to continue to build their Museum collection. During October, there are only two new fish players can begin to catch in the Northern hemisphere and ten in the Southern hemisphere. Here are all the new fish coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons on October 1.

The two new fish to catch in the Northern hemisphere in October are medium-small creatures that can be found and caught any time of the day or night. They aren’t worth very much, but players should still find them to complete the Museum Fish Gallery. These two fish are:

  • Yellow Perch
  • Dab

The Yellow Perch is found in the river and will be available from October through March. Since Wild World, it has been considered a winter fish. It’s fairly common and will sell for 300 bells at Nook’s Cranny. If CJ appears on a player’s island, they can sell duplicates to him for 30% more, earning 450 bells per Yellow Perch.

The Dab is another ocean fish players can find in the ocean from October through April. It is also fairly common and will sell for 300 bells at Nook’s Cranny and 450 bells to CJ.

Many fish will leave the Northern hemisphere at the end of October, including valuable ones like the Snapping Turtle and Mahi-Mahi, so players should plan to do some fishing if they want to catch these critters for their collections.

As spring comes to the Southern hemisphere, players have a better chance of finding and collecting new fish. There are ten total newcomers. None are particularly expensive fish species, but they all will fetch a decent amount of bells once sold either at Nook’s Cranny or to CJ.

Killifish

The Killifish is a small, uncommon fish located in the holding pond on a player’s island. It casts a tiny shadow. Players can find the Killifish all day from October through February. Killifish sell for 300 bells each at Nook’s Cranny and 450 bells each to CJ.

Crawfish

The Crawfish is a small, common crustacean found in the holding pond. It casts a small shadow. Players in the Southern hemisphere can find the Crawfish all day from October through March. Crawfish sell for 200 bells each at Nook’s Cranny and 300 bells each to CJ.

Snapping Turtle

Though not technically a fish, players can find Snapping Turtles in the River starting in October through the end of April. Snapping Turtles are large and are active at night from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. They are uncommon and fairly valuable. They sell for 5,000 bells each at Nook’s Cranny and 7,500 bells each to CJ.

Guppy

Guppies can also be found in the river. They are uncommon and tiny, available from October through May. They are active during the day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guppies sell for 1,300 bells each at Nook’s Cranny and 1,950 bells each to CJ.

Neon tetra

Neon Tetras are river-dwellers like Snapping Turtles and Guppies. They are uncommon and tiny, available from October through May. They are active from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and sell for 500 bells each at Nook’s Cranny and 750 bells each to CJ.

Seahorse

Players will find the seahorse in the ocean at any time of day from October through May. They cast a tiny shadow and sell for 1,100 bells each at Nook’s Cranny and 1,650 bells each to CJ.

Clown Fish

The Clown Fish is another ocean-dwelling fish that can be found all day from October through March in the Southern hemisphere. They are uncommon and cast a tiny shadow. Clown Fish sell for 650 bells each at Nook’s Cranny and 975 bells each to CJ.

Surgeonfish

Surgeonfish are uncommon fish found in the ocean all day. In the Southern hemisphere, players can catch this critter from October through March. They cast a small shadow and sell for 1,000 bells each at Nook’s Cranny and 1,500 bells each to CJ.

Butterfly Fish

Players will also find Butterfly Fish in the ocean all day. This fish is available from October through March. They are uncommon and cast a small shadow. Butterfly Fish sell for 1,000 bells each at Nook’s Cranny and 1,500 bells each to CJ.

Zebra Turkeyfish

The Zebra Turkeyfish is an ocean-dwelling fish that players can find all day. The Zebra Turkeyfish is available in the Southern hemisphere from October through May.
