UFC middleweight Paulo Costa has revealed that ‘something happened’ in the build-up to his disappointing UFC 253 defeat against Israel Adesanya.

It was a first defeat inside the octagon for the Brazilian, who went into the contest having won all 13 prior fights.
Costa stated that he doesn’t want to make any excuses for his loss, but proceeded to claim that he wasn’t 100 per cent right going into the fight.
In a video he posted on Instagram, he said: “Hello, guys. I’m here to say thank you for all the support.
“I’m back already stronger and smarter. We had some mistakes, but the next time I will do better and get my gold.
“I’m not here to excuse something happened. It doesn’t matter. I’m focused on my goal.”
Costa has also labelled Adesanya as ‘human trash’ after he watched a clip of his opponent mocking him during their dust-up.
As referee Jason Herzog separated the fighters with Costa sprawled on the ground, Adesanya appeared to thrust his hips in a humping motion towards his stricken foe.
Speaking of the incident, Costa said: “Adesanya is human trash. This has become a grave situation!
“I saw his disgusting action after the fight and I will not stop until I have my revenge. Make the fight happen.”

He also posted a video with the message: “I’m here to talk about the action that the human trash did after the fight.
“I didn’t see it when I was in the cage but I’ve seen it now and I disapprove 100 per cent.
“Nobody will stop me now, I want my rematch and you know something happened before the fight.
“I’m not making excuses to my people or my fans.
“But I will be 100 per cent ready to fight him and to make him pay, that’s my words.”
