Detective drama Bancroft axed by ITV after two series
ITV has taken thriller Bancroft off our screens for good.
The drama, which starred Sarah Parish as bent top cop Elizabeth Bancroft, will not return for a third series.
Kate Brooke, who wrote the show, said there had been talks for another season and she already had ideas lined up.
But ITV chiefs did not seem to agree.
A spokeswoman said: “We felt the series had reached its natural conclusion with Elizabeth Bancroft going to jail.
“She’d reached the peak of her evilness.

“We really appreciated the series achieved a loyal audience and was produced, written and performed brilliantly.”
The second series, which aired earlier this year over three consecutive nights, only drew around three million viewers despite it returning in a plum New Year’s Day slot.
These are tough times for TV dramas.
