2 San Diego men killed in Southern California plane crash

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say two men killed in plane crash in a remote area of Southern California were from San Diego.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office said Saturday that the pilot was 58-year-old David Martz and his passenger was 56-year-old Greg Bacino.

They were flying from Lompoc on the central Coast to McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad Thursday night when they reported loss of engine power.

The wreckage was found early Friday on a mountainside 30 to 40 miles north of Ojai.

Authorities said Bacino had hired Martz, a commercial pilot, to fly him to a business meeting in San Luis Obispo. The plane, a single-engine Cessna 182, was rented out of the San Diego area.
