Dignity and humanity were Michael Clarke's hallmarks

It is sad to see Michael Clarke leaving in such disappointing circumstances ("Michael Clarke to retire from Test cricket", August 9). Unfortunately, the crucible of the Ashes is not the place to try and recover from injury or poor form.
