Death in Paradise casts familiar faces from The Crown and Call The Midwife in season 10 in major cast shake-up

BBC crime drama Death in Paradise will return for season 10 with a host of faces familiar to TV fans.

The Sun has already confirmed Emmerdale favourite and Strictly Come Dancing champ, Kelvin Fletcher, will star in the new season filmed in Guadeloupe.

In a major BBC cast shake-up, it has now been revealed The Crown star Lia Williams, who plays the controversial Wallis Simpson in the Netflix show, is a fresh addition.

The former Doc Martin actress will be joined by Call The Midwife alum Bryony Hannah, who played Nurse Cynthia Miller until season seven.

They will join character DI Neville Parker as he juggles life on the tropical island with a host of serious cases to solve.

Also starring in the drama, which aired on the BBC for the first time in 2011, are Noughts and Crosses actor Luke Bailey, The Split’s Laura Aikman and comedian Jason Manford.

Our Girl favourite Luke Pasqualino is also an addition to the star-studded cast.

Death in Paradise‘s executive producer Tim Key has teased of the cast re-vamp: “We’re delighted to announce our amazing guest cast and particularly grateful to them all for making the journey to Guadeloupe during such a difficult year to be part of the show.

“Every episode features some amazing performances from a host of famous guests who were all a pleasure to work with and we can’t wait for our viewers to try to work out which one of them dunnit!”

Funnyman Jason, 39, who was the first name to be confirmed as a guest star.

In a post on the show’s official Twitter account, Jason could be seen in a tropical print shirt.

The tweet referenced his recent stint on The Masked Singer as a singing hedgehog, writing: “We’re really excited to introduce you to our series 10 guest stars – starting with comedian/singing hedgehog @JasonManford !”

A second tweet then revealed Shalisha James-Davis, a star of Amazon Prime Video teenage espionage series Alex Rider, would also be guest starring.

The third and final tweet welcomed Patrick Robinson, 57, with the caption alongside a snap of him in a sharp suit reading: “Here’s a familiar face coming to our shores – say hello to @peerobinson#DeathInParadise.”

Patrick played charge nurse Martin “Ash” Ashford in Casualty on and off from 1990 until 2014.

The hit BBC drama resumed filming back in September, with Ralf Little returning as DI Neville Parker.

In happy news for loyal Death in Paradise viewers, Sara Martins will reprise her role as fan favourite, D.S. Camille Bordey.

Meanwhile a teaser for the next season, due to air in 2021, states: “The new series sees D.I. Neville Parker continue to get to grips with island life whilst attempting to unravel a series of challenging cases with the team.”
