New HIV cases in NYC down 70% from 2001 numbers

There were 1,772 people newly diagnosed with the virus in the city in 2019, down 8 percent from the year before and 70 percent nearly 20 years ago, the Big Apple’s Health Department said, in marking World AIDS Day.
