RTX 3060 Ti Is Nvidia's Cheapest RTX 30-Series Graphics Card So Far
Nvidia has just added a new GeForce RTX 3060 Ti to its RTX 30-Series graphics cards, providing consumers with an even cheaper option, if they can get it. This is the fourth RTX 30-related GPU to be announced by the popular gaming brand in the last few months, following on from the RTX 3070, 3080, and 3090.
The other RTX 30-Series cards were first announced in early September, although they did not start to become available to buy until later in the month. At the time, the new GPUs were touted as the company’s “greatest-ever generational leap” and mostly due to the switch to the company’s new Ampere architecture. Since then, AMD has released its own updated Radeon RX graphics cards offering consumers even more choice.
Nvidia has now confirmed the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti will go on sale on December 2, priced at $399 in the U.S. At this price, it is currently the cheapest RTX 30-Series card on the market, with Nvidia specifically noting it is priced to match the “market’s sweet spot.” In spite of the low price, the RTX 3060 Ti does come with some hallmark features of the series, including ray tracing, NVIDIA Reflex, and Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology. In addition to what’s said to be some major performance upgrades compared to the RTX 2060S (Super) and the RTX 2060S. Adding to the value, Nvidia has also explained that RTX 3060 Ti buyers will get a free one-year subscription to GeForce Now.
With as many as four GeForce RTX cards having been announced in a matter of months, it would be assumed that consumers have their pick when it comes to buying. Yet, that has not really been the case, as the 2020 RTX line has suffered massively in terms of supply. The previous three 30-Series GPUs were announced together, but released at different times. However, on each occasion, the available stock sold out extremely quickly, leaving many consumers without an option to buy. Raising the question of whether the same supply, demand, and scalper issues will be in effect this time around?
The reality is, the answer to that question remains unknown at the moment. Nvidia has not officially commented on the stock situation this time. However, considering the new card goes on sale tomorrow, one positive in this sense could be the quick turnaround as this might help circumvent any major organized attempts to buy up all the stock. Although, with the launch taking place in the weeks leading up to Christmas, it is likely the RTX 3060 Ti graphics card will still sell out, and especially at this price.
