0

It's Christmas time again, and that means it's time to sink into a hot bath of sentimental sweetness and curl up on the sofa with a classic holiday feature by the glow of the twinkling tree lights. When it comes to the rich, sweet taste of holly jolly holiday glee, Disney has the bull market on the medium.

While their streaming service certainly has a fine selection of traditional holiday flicks like Miracle of 34th Street and Home Alonethe studio has produced quite a delightful handful of Christmas classics themselves. Why not make a mug of cocoa and dive into some Disney magic?

10 Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year

Winnie the Pooh might not be the strongest Contender on the list, but when it comes to warm, fuzzy, and fluffy Christmas cheer, one can never go wrong with that willy-nilly, silly old bear.

A Very Merry Pooh Year essentially covers all the holiday merriment in the Hundred Acre Wood from Christmas to New Year's Eve. From Pooh and his pals putting up the Christmas tree to having a New Year's Eve party at Rabbit's, one will find no shortage of festive fluff here.

9 Babes in Toyland

Babes in Toyland is a rather... interesting stage production, but it is still an original Walt Disney project. Famous for its March of the Wooden Soldiers scene, Babes in Toyland is an over-the-top musical fantasy perfect for bright-eyed kids or adults who what to relive the magic of opening toys on Christmas morning.

With a host of familiar fairytale characters, a comically cliche villain with some serious dance skills, a haunted forest, and an army of living toys, this musical is certainly something to behold.

8 The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe

It's actually quite surprising how many viewers forget that The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe is actually a Christmas movie. After all, it does feature wintry scenes, roaring fires, and an appearance from Father Christmas himself.

Essentially Disney's answer to Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings, this epic fantasy will definitely stir up some holiday memories for those who grew up with the books. And even the ones who didn't will appreciate the swords and sorcery of the affair.

7 Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas

Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas is the very definition of a saccharine, sentimental, holiday special, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. On the contrary, sometimes it's the simplest approach is that make these projects work.

The film consists of three stories featuring Mickey and his friends, all jumping through the traditional holiday hoops. From Goofy and Max debating the existence of Santa Claus to Mickey and Minnie's own version of The Gift of the Magi, heartwarming barely scratches the surface for this film.

6 Mickey’s Christmas Carol

If there's one title people are going to see all month long, it's A Christmas Carol. Fortunately, Disney has not one but three different versions to choose from.

Mickey's Christmas Carol is probably the most familiar version to almost all viewers. In fact, it's probably the first version everyone is introduced to. It's not a very long feature, but it's one that sees Mickey and all his friends in the familiar roles of the Dickens characters. Definitely a classic for lovers of the mouse.

5 The Muppet Christmas Carol

Despite Jim Henson's creations of fur and felt being the main stars of this adaptation, The Muppet Christmas Carol does tend to stick to the source material... sometimes.

With Michael Caine in the lead role of Ebenezer Scrooge surrounded by the likes of Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear, and Gonzo the Great, it's a production that mixes both the kooky and the classic. And does one even need to mention the soundtrack? It's absolutely perfect for that one more sleep until Christmas.

4 Disney’s A Christmas Carol

It was only a matter of time before Disney made their truly traditional version of the Dickens classic, but is there such a thing as being too book-accurate?

Disney's A Christmas Carol is an absolutely excellent adaptation of the novel, even if it was done in a motion-capture animation which is a bit of a strange choice. But one thing Disney's version does better than most is recognizing that the book is a ghost story first and a Christmas story second. Needless to say, it gets dark.

3 The Small One

If the last entry was a little too dark and dismal, consider watching something a little more touching and true for the season. Often overlooked and overshadowed by other Disney big wigs, Don Bluth's Christmas tale involves a small donkey unknowingly playing a world-changing role on his journey to Bethlehem.

It's short, but it has loads of heart, a catchy soundtrack, and a message that countless viewers probably need to hear.

2 The Nightmare Before Christmas

There are few Christmas movies with a larger fan following than that of Tim Burton's twisted holiday classic. With two holidays for the price of one, The Nightmare Before Christmas is perhaps Disney's biggest cult film and arguably the most-watched holiday movie.

It's the perfect marriage of merry and macabre that could only be born from Burton's Brain. Looking for something strange and unusual for Christmas? Take a ride through Jack's haunted holiday.

1 The Santa Clause

What Christmas would be complete without a visit from the big man in red, Santa Claus? If there's one image of Jolly Old Saint Nicholas that all Disney fans know, it's Tim Allen's version in The Santa Clause.

Though obviously a product of the '90s, the film has a timeless quality to it that meets all the warm and gooey requirements of a Christmas classic. Scrooge, he might not be, but watching Scott Calvin take Santa's place on one fateful Christmas eve is always magical.
