In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Operation Red Circus allows players to become detectives by finding different spy ring suspects. The mission itself is about taking the spies out of commission, but some dangers can make Operation Red Circus a tricky one. The more informed players are, the better, or else they'll miss out on getting a better ending if there's a mistake made when determining targets to go after.
Operation Red Circus is all about the assassination of Major Vadim Rudnik, but the mission is more than his death. The Major is the head of the snake when it comes to planting spies for Perseus in high-ranking government locations, and they also need to be dispatched. Mounting evidence to determine the right spies is crucial or risk killing the wrong people. Players only have one shot at getting the suspects correct on this side mission as it's a non-repeatable operation. There are a few stages to go through to get them right, which is to get the evidence first and then choose the correct suspects.

For Operation Red Circus in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, there are three pieces of evidence to collect to find the three suspects. The first piece is Kraus' Ledger found in the bedroom cabinet next to the bed in the Brick In The Wall mission. The second is the Audio Report tape in the Echoes Of A Cold War Mission in the main building's table with a coffee mug, ashtray, and payphone. The last piece is in the Desperate Measures mission, where a wristwatch will be in either the Records Room, War Room, or Server room.

Now that the evidence has is collected, select the Red Circus mission from the evidence board, and there will be a lineup of eight suspects to review. The evidence gathered will point to the correct suspects in a couple of ways:
- Line up the countries and dates found on the different evidence pieces with the suspects.
- Look at the pronouns the evidence uses to determine the gender of the suspect.
An example is if the Ledger says the suspect was in Barcelona, Spain on 01/09/1980, check all the suspects in that location simultaneously. If there's more than one, keep filtering to see if a second location matches up. Once the list gets narrowed as much as possible, it will be time to look at the second key, the pronouns. If the evidence talks about a bearded lady, for example, is the report calling them a "he" or a "she," which will narrow the list even further, pinpointing the suspect if there's a choice between two.
After selecting the suspects, it's time to go after Rudnik. The three targets are not in the mission itself to find, but there are three separate buildings that players will have to clear out instead while hunting down Rudnik's location. After going through all three, which will be marked, and being quick about it as the mission has a timer, Rudnik's location gets revealed. Head to his area, kill him, and take a picture of his body for confirmation. After calling in for the chopper to evacuate the mission, go to the evidence board and give a notification if the spies got identified correctly.
