Philippines intends to purchase Russian vaccine against COVID-19

President’s spokesman Harry Roque said the Philippine authorities will buy vaccines from four companies, including Russia’s Sputnik V, CNN reports.

The vaccination program coordinator Carlito Galves that in addition to the Russian drug against coronavirus, the Philippines plans to purchase a vaccine from the Chinese company Sinovac, the British AstraZeneca and the American Pfizer.

The Philippine authorities intend to vaccinate 60 million citizens to achieve herd immunity. The first batch of vaccines will arrive in the country in the second quarter of next year.
