Woman shot in Oakland hills in extremely critical condition

OAKLAND — A 23-year-old woman is in extremely critical condition after she was shot Wednesday night while sitting in a car in the Oakland hills, authorities said Thursday.

Another person with her was not injured.

The shooting happened about 10:17 p.m. Wednesday in the 3400 block of 82nd Avenue near the King Estate Recreation Area.

Police said the two were inside a parked vehicle when someone shot at them from outside.  The woman was the only one hit by the gunfire.

The other person drove her to a hospital where she was on life-support, authorities said.

Police have not yet determined a motive, but have not ruled out the possibility of a robbery or carjacking, authorities said.  No arrests have been made.
