Marvel: 5 Characters To Invite Over For The Holidays (& 5 Who Would Be Terrible Guests)

0

During Christmastime, fans often ponder, which characters would make good guests for the holiday season. In the last decade, Marvel has given fans plenty of reasons to celebrate with movies and shows centered around their favorite comic book characters.

With a chance to invite just 5 characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, here's who would make good guests to celebrate Christmas with. Not all heroes are family-friendly and not all villains are necessarily rude. Here's who would make the cut for the guest list.

10 Peter Parker (Good Guest)

The web-slinger gets a seat at the table. If any fan wishes to deny the importance of young Peter Parker, just think back to what happened in Infinity War. His death was the most talked about of all the MCU characters and for good reason. This version of Parker is still a kid. Stemming from his entrance in Captain America: Civil War, fans could tell his storyline was going to be huge.

Parker is funny. Not stand up comedy funny but knows exactly when to drop a line to lighten the mood. That's who fans would want around their family during the holidays.

9 Tony Stark (Terrible Guest)

Tony, at times, loves the idea that's he's a sociable person. But the reality is, he's at his best when he's alone. His selfless act in Endgame may have changed the outlook on him but he's still the spoiled kid who became an entitled adult. Superhero status aside, Tony is the guy who would rather be eating cheeseburgers in his house alone.

Adding Tony to the family gathering is a big gamble. It could turn out very well or it could divide the family. This is the same guy who went to war with his own team for not doing what he wanted them to do.

8 Steve Rogers (Good Guest)

Doesn't matter what function it is, Steve Rogers gets an invite. The world's first Avenger deserves that. Rogers is pure at heart and will fit in well with any family. Steve has never really spoken about his family and the ones he did have, he lost those while frozen for 70 years. He deserves to be surrounded by love.

Rogers is humble to the core. While he does have his faults, he best represents what's it's like to put yourself before everyone else. The sad part is, there is no place at the table for his best friend Bucky.

7 Bucky Barnes (Terrible Guest)

Bucky Barnes has come a long way since his Winter Soldier days and is thankfully cleared of his Hydra conditioning thanks to Princess Shuri. But given everything he's been through, he might not be ready for a huge meal with the family, and instead feel despondent and removed from the merriment, making not the best guest to include.

Additionally, Bucky might feel like he still has a ways to go before he earns a seat anywhere. Making amends, or at least, ensuring he isn't a threat has been his top priority in most of the scenes he's been a part of since The Winter Soldier, and so an invitation may be best deferred.

6 Phil Coulson (Good Guest)

Was Phil Coulson the reason The Avengers got their act together? His death in the first Avengers movie may have been the turning point according to Nick Fury. After his death, he took the mantle as the director of Shield.

Coulson did more than his best as the new Nick Fury while leading a team of misfits mixed with powers and mechanics. Coulson would be a pleasant guest to have at the dinner table as everyone there would surely follow his lead. He's a natural at what he does.

5 Hulk (Terrible Guest)

Any family can trust Bruce Banner. He seems harmless at first glance but the wrong movement or expression could turn him into the most dreaded character in the MCU outside of Thanos. Banner is mild-mannered but Hulk, that's something entirely different. Not one to purposely cause harm, Banner has done his best to contain the beast raging inside him.

Hulk knows nothing but brute force. Fans can just imagine playing a board game and having someone get mad and knocking the game over. Banner may see that as a sign of aggression and from there, the party is definitely over.

4 Matt Murdock (Good Guest)

Matt would be a pleasant surprise. Matt means no harm despite being called the Devil of Hell's Kitchen. His job is protecting his city from those choosing to bring harm. However, Matt does have a side where he can go a bit too far. Listening to logic is not his strong suit. In that regard, he has a bit of Iron Man in him.

But as far as manners go, who doesn't like Matt in the MCU? Although his friends may call him distant, he does have his reasons. A nice family gathering would do him justice as Matt has no family he feels connected to. He was reunited with his mother but even their relationship is strained.

3 Loki (Terrible Guest)

Any person willing to kill his brother does not deserve to sit at anyone's table. Loki is not to be trusted. He's a master con artist and only looks out for himself. There were certain moments where he fought within himself to do the right thing, but in the end, it always came back to Loki doing what was best for him.

An invite here is asking for nothing but trouble. Loki is a master of deception and could easily take the form of someone in the family and make it appear as if your father is causing harm. If something doesn't go his way, Loki will bring the house down without a second thought.

2 Shuri (Good Guest)

The kids would love to have Shuri over for the holidays. Think about the awesome presents she would bring from Wakanda and how they would put a smile on any kid's face. Shuri is not as old as the other members in the MCU but she has seen her fair share of action.

Despite her trials in war and her well-advanced knowledge in anything tech-related, Shuri is still a kid at heart much like Peter Parker. Having her around could be a much-needed blessing for the family.

1 Jessica Jones (Terrible Guest)

Jessica Jones is far from a villain in terms of good vs. bad. However, inviting Jessica over to the house may not a great idea. Jessica is known to act rashly in a bad mood, and sometimes it is hard to predict her reactions.

While she does have some allegiances to others, for the most part, Jessica thinks about herself. This is not the makings of a great guest.
