RUTH Langsford gushed over her “wonderful” husband Eamonn Holmes on his 61st birthday today – after it was confirmed the pair are being replaced on This Morning.

The 60-year-old star couldn’t hide her love for her partner on his special day, posting a sweet Instagram tribute.

Ruth offered a rare insight into their private life as she posted a candid selfie that showed her leaning against Eamonn in a sweet embrace as he rested one hand on her shoulder.

Both stars are wearing sunglasses in the photo and beaming as they enjoy quality time together.

Ruth captioned the post: “Happy Birthday to my wonderful, handsome, kind, generous, clever, big hearted and incredibly funny husband @eamonnholmes Love you ”

Touched Eamonn commented: “Well that’s a very nice thing to say …. albeit true. Here’s to a Birthday vaccine for all.”

Ruth took to her Instagram page again later in the day, this time sharing a snap of Eamonn grinning outside a front door with a huge Christmas wreath on it.

He is dressed smartly in a black suit jacket and white shirt, with Ruth writing: “Birthday celebration with a Christmas feel for @eamonnholmes Happy Birthday handsome! ”

On today’s episode of This Morning, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield took a moment to wish Eamonn a happy birthday.

Holly said: “Can we just say a very big happy birthday to Eamonn Holmes. Happy birthday darling.

“Eamonn, we hope you have a brilliant day and Ruth is spoiling you. There’s a little something here waiting for you tomorrow.”

It was confirmed this week that they’d been replaced on the show after 13 years[/caption]

Earlier this week it was confirmed that Eamonn and Ruth are being replaced with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on the daytime show after 13 years.

They will no longer front the weekly Friday instalment of the programme, instead only stepping in for Holly and Phil during their half term and summer holiday breaks.

The change will come into effect from January, with the couple wishing Alison and Dermot luck with the venture in a social media post at the time.
