The Division 2 Season 4 Sends Players After The Fiercest Rogue Agent Yet
When The Division 2's Season 4 content drops on December 8th players will be tasked with targeting the most formidable Rogue Agent yet, former Division Commander Faye Lau. Though the story revolving around Faye Lau sits at the center of attention, Season 4 is set to debut a host of other extras, too. Namely, players can look forward to several improvements, as well as new gear and weapons.
Season 4 goes live next week with Title Update 12, further expanding upon The Division 2 experience. As many may recall, the title got off to a slow start at launch in spring 2019, ultimately failing to meet Ubisoft's sales expectations. Throughout much of this year, though, developer Massive Entertainment has made strides to unleash out more quality offerings. Such efforts began with the Warlords of New York expansion, which took players back to the franchise's first setting. Since then, other notable updates have rolled out as well, introducing content like The Summit PvE mode.
The Division 2 Season 4 is primed to take things up a notch, based on the details shared in Ubisoft's latest blog post. Division Agents must helm a manhunt to track down Rogue Agent Faye Lau, a former Division Commander. She now leads a cell of ex-Division Agents, who were recruited by Black Tusk and are involved in a secret scheme of some sort. Players can expect to go after the members of Lau's cell first, before targeting the fiercest of the Rogue Agents herself.
With Title Update 12, The Division 2's fourth season is also set to introduce improvements to The Summit end-game mode. Changes will arrive in the form of a new progression loop, additional Commendations, and another objective category. As with most Title Updates, fresh gear and weapons are on the cards, too. For example, players will receive access to an extra brand set (Empress International), the Rigger seasonal outfit and gearset, the Achilles Pulse skill variant, and a few new exotic weapons. In addition, a handful of quality of life improvements are incoming, most of which concern better inventory management options. And owners of Microsoft's and Sony's latest hardware releases will see improvements to the sequel's frame rate in the back half of the season.
It took some time, but it appears The Division 2 is back on track. Season 4's impending arrival on December 8th could very well further cement as much. Because sales data and numbers regarding the overall player-base remain under wraps at present, it's unclear as to whether the sequel's myriad updates have resulted in an influx of new and lapsed players in the last several months.
The forthcoming launch of Season 4 will give PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners a chance to play fresh Division 2 content on the recently released consoles. Beyond the frame rate improvements that are coming on an unspecified date, the game doesn't take advantage of the next-gen hardware's bells and whistles. But at least cross-gen multiplayer allows players to continue teaming up with friends.
