TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) - The Shawnee County Health Department held a virtual media conference today starting at 1:30 p.m.
Shawnee county is planning on expanding testing. Starting tomorrow people can get tested at Hummer Sports Park.
The health department believes it can test 1000 people a day.
The department is evaluating other possible testing sites.
Topeka Mayor Michelle De La Isla urged residents to listen to their faith leaders.
"I wanted to make sure I took some time today to acknowledge the trauma we have been through," De La Isla said. "It's traumatic to be on heightened alert continuously."
"Happiness is knowing the vaccine is coming, and it's just around the corner," De La Isla said.
