Hundreds of Sikhs take to streets of London in solidarity with Indian farmers protest
Hundreds of Sikhs took to the streets of central London today (December 6) in solidarity with protesting farmers in India.
Farmers in India's Punjab region, which has a large Sikh population, are furious after the Indian government passed a series of agricultural laws that they say jeopardise their livelihoods.
The protesters claim the new rules prevent farmers from selling crops to the government at a fixed cost, forcing them to sell privately and opening them up to exploitation by big corporations.
