Huge hailstones smash Queensland, Australia in freak storm

The Australian state of Queensland was subject to a freak hailstorm on Monday (December 7).

Footage captured by Twitter users @mummavegas and @sophie.vs.theworld shows the brunt of the adverse weather and its furious lashing of hail as it hits Moreton Bay on Bribie Island.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, a series of storm cells moved across South-East Queensland, from west of Gympie in the north to the inland border, with multiple reports of 4-centimetre hail at Bribie Island.
