The England manager was asked to help coach Flynn’s junior team, he is now 17 and has stopped playing football[/caption]

He said: “I was asked to help coach my son’s junior football team.

“As I was a manager at the time, I felt I could at least bring some experience to the role. As it turned out, I struggled to find a way to effectively communicate with players this young.”

He went on in new autobiography Anything is Possible: “As soon as a match started, they all just got over-excited and flocked around the ball!

“It was amusing, but it reminded me my coaching abilities are better suited to working with older players.”
