Ip Man: Kung Fu Master Clip & Posters - Bruce Lee's Mentor In Action

0

An exclusive clip and posters for the new martial arts film Ip Man: Kung Fu Master has been shared with Screen Rant. The title character, played by Dennis To, is one of history's most well-known masters of Wing Chun kung fu, and was also the mentor of the legendary Bruce Lee. Ip Man: Kung Fu Master was released in China in December of 2019. The movie is being distributed in the United States by Magnolia Pictures & Magnet Releasing.

The Wing Chun master has been the subject of numerous acclaimed martial arts films, most famously the Ip Man series, in which he was portrayed by Donnie Yen, the series concluding last year with Ip Man 4: The Finale. Ip Man: Kung Fu Master sees Dennis To in the title role.

Ip Man: Kung Fu Master focuses on its titular hero’s days prior to China’s Communist Revolution. Magnolia Pictures & Magnet Releasing have exclusively provided Screen Rant with some posters and a fight scene clip from the film. The two posters show Ip Man, hands folded behind his back, preparing to head in a big fight, while the clip itself shows a Jackie Chan-style Drunken Master flavored action scene from the film. Check out the clip and posters below.

A former wushu champion, Dennis To actually appeared in both 2008’s Ip Man and its 2010 sequel Ip Man 2, debuting as the man himself in The Legend is Born: Ip Man, also released in 2010. To subsequently returned to the role in 2018’s Kung Fu League, an ensemble of famed kung fu masters including Wong Fei-hung, Huo Yuan-jia, and Bruce Lee’s Fist of Fury character Chen Zhen, respectively portrayed by Vincent Zhao, Andy On, and Danny Chan.

Ip Man has become one of the most popular characters in contemporary martial arts films, also being the subject of Wong Kar-wai's The Grandmaster, in which he was played by Tony Leung. Although Donnie Yen’s portrayal is easily the most mainstream, Ip Man: Kung Fu Master clearly shows its own take on one chapter in the life of the man who first trained Bruce Lee. In his third outing as the legendary Wing Chun master, To brings his own energy and screen presence to the character, and of course, viewers can look forward to plenty of awesome Wing Chun-based fight scenes, too.
