Selina Kyle’s mission to take over Gotham City’s Alleytown will continue when Catwoman resumes its run in March following DC’s massive Future State event. Future State will launch in January 2021 and will impact the entire DC line of comics. Nearly every book will halt its current run for the event, which will take readers into the near and distant futures of DC’s most popular characters and offer glimpses of their possible fates. Stories will take place over a vast timeline that spans from the year 2025 all the way to the end of time. Expect major changes to familiar heroes, including a new character taking on the mantle of Batman and Superman finding himself an outcast from Earth.
Catwoman is set to appear in at least two Future State books, including Future State: Catwoman and the Gotham City Sirens stories published in the anthology series Future State: The Next Batman. The Batman line of Future State stories will all take place in the year 2025, when Gotham City has been taken over by a criminal organization known as the Magistrate and Bruce Wayne has seemingly been killed. Vigilantes have been outlawed by the Magistrate, and the first issue of Future State: Catwoman sees Selina trying to steal a bullet train that contains both captured heroes and innocent children. She is helped in this mission by the Strays and a new protégé.
While the status of many books following Future State is unknown, CBR reports Catwoman will pick back up with its current run at issue #29. The series is set to return with the same creative team of writer Ram V and artist Fernando Blanco after the two-month Future State event. Recent stories have shown Selina setting up shop in the Alleytown neighborhood of Gotham City, and judging from the story's description, it sounds like that will continue. Check out the details, as well as a first look below:
So far, Selina Kyle’s ambitious plan to gain control of Alleytown has been going purrfectly, but she’s about to run headlong into a brand-new foe—and pass right through them...? Riddle us this, Catwoman! What do the Khadym Mob, a non-corporeal assassin, and Poison Ivy have in common?

It remains to be seen how the events of Future State might impact the current stories in Catwoman. Ram V is writing Future State: Catwoman, with art by Otto Schmidt. DC has announced several series that will run following Future State, including relaunches of Harley Quinn, The Suicide Squad and Swamp Thing. New series like Teen Titans Academy and Wonder Girl appear to directly tie into events in Future State. Other titles such as Batman and Detective Comics will introduce new creative teams, including creators who are working on Future State stories.
In the current Catwoman series, Selina has made great strides in helping to crack down on the drugs flowing into Alleytown. However, even after recruiting the Strays and enjoying recent successes against some enemies, she still has a long way to go. It sounds like new foes are on the horizon, and Selina may have to team up with an old enemy to solve the riddle of how to defeat them.
Future State: Catwoman will go on sale on January, 19, 2021. Catwoman will resume its current run with issue #29, which goes on sale March 17, 2021.
