Moment toddler too young to know his own name is abandoned at thrift shop
The boy was too young to know his name, or the names of his parents - but help up two fingers when asked his age
A toddler too young to know his own name was dumped at a thrift shop with a note and bag of clothes. The little boy, who police believe is around two years-old, was abandoned at the Goodwill store in Southaven, Mississippi, on Monday morning.
A man wearing a fishing hat and facemask was captured on surveillance cameras abandoning the child. The note he was left with said ‘child abandoned…no phone number for mom.’ He had also been left with a plastic bag containing clothes and food.
A Goodwill employee spotted the boy and called police. That worker said that the toddler was underdressed for the weather, but that he was otherwise healthy, and in good spirits. He held up two fingers when asked how old he was, but was also unable to provide the names of his parents.
Attempts to locate the man and a woman believed to be his accomplice, who was also captured on surveillance footage, have so-far been unsuccessful. They were filmed driving a red Ford SUV with damage to its rear passenger-side door at the time, with police urgently working to track the couple down.
If captured, the pair will likely face a charge of child abandonment. The toddler who was dumped at the shop is now being cared for by social services.
