Boxing in Thailand on Christmas!
Earlier today Komthai reported that there will be televised boxing on Christmas day in Thailand this year, and it actually feature a relative notable main event.
That main event will see Petch CP Freshmart (58-1, 43), aka Tasana Salapat, defending his WBC Asian Boxing Council Bantamweight title against fellow Thai Kongfah Nakornluang (33-3, 21), aka Chaiwat Buatkrathok.
On paper this looks like and interesting one, though if we're being honest we can't see anything but a win for the champion, who should be far too talented, hungry and powerful for the challenger. Just looking at his record Kongfah looks decent as a challenger, but his wins have almost entirely been against novices, and he's lost 2 of his last 3, including one in 2019 to Reymart Gaballo.
Whilst Petch hasn't scored any stellar wins of his own he has shown he's well above this level of bout with wins against the likes of Aries Buenavidez, John Rey Lauza, and Jestoni Autida. He also looked decent in his sole loss in 2018 to Takuma Inoue, where he looked a capable fighter but not on the same level as Inoue.
