The Bachelor, season 25 lead Matt James celebrated his birthday by pranking his best friend Tyler Cameron at a Miami Dolphins game. Tyler won over the hearts of Bachelor Nation after finishing in second place during Hannah Brown's season of The Bachelorette. The fans were also quick to fall in love with Cameron's best friend, Matt James.
Matt James was originally cast to be on The Bachelorette season 16 starring Clare Crawley. However, after Clare called out Matt and several other contestants for using their newfound notoriety to make money on Cameo, Matt chose to not make an appearance on the spin-off. As the fans called out ABC for their lack of racial diversity in casting on The Bachelor franchise, the network felt like Matt James would be the perfect choice to become the first Black male lead in the series' 18-year history.
After spending the spring of 2020 quarantining together, The Bachelor BFFs Matt James and Tyler Cameron were separated while James filmed season 25at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Pennsylvania. Per Yahoo!, the friends reunited last week to celebrate Matt's birthday at a Miami Dolphins game, which they watched from a private box. When the Pepsi fan cam featured the friends on the big screen, Matt James waved to the crowd before grabbing his birthday cake and smashing it in Cameron's face. As Tyler laughed and wiped cake from his face, Matt stood up and chugged a beer through his face mask. He continued to hype up the crowd with a Dolphin swimming dance and chugged another beer before Tyler stood up and tossed the remainder of the cake over the balcony.
However, some fans raised concerns about how seriously the men were taking COVID-19 precautions, particularly after they posted photos and videos of themselves inside a crowded party bus to the game and removing their masks among the rest of the fans in their box. James and Cameron have previously faced scrutiny for throwing parties during the pandemic and traveling with other influencers.
Matt's upcoming season of The Bachelor was filmed entirely at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in order to comply with COVID-19 restrictions. The season is scheduled to begin airing on ABC on January 4. Recently, the network released photos and bios for Matt James' contestants and has been promoting the upcoming The Bachelor season with teasers depicting the contestants fawning over the lead's good looks.
