Marvel's Next Great Hero To Shock The Marvel Universe
Marvel Comics has teased a brand new series starring America Chavez and the publisher is promising big things.
Marvel Comics is promising big things ahead for the superhero America Chavez. On Thursday, Marvel provided new details on the upcoming series starring the former Young Avenger and outlined that there's more to be revealed about the breakout character when it comes to both her origins and massive, inter-dimensional travel powers.
America Chavez, who also goes by the superhero name Miss America, was created by Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta, first appearing in Vengeance #1. Chavez is a powerhouse in the Marvel Universe, as she's got the powers to open star-shaped pockets that act as interdimensional portals - her other powers include flight, and super strength and speed. Chavez was Marvel's first Latin-American LGBTQ character to star in her own ongoing series back in Gabby Rivera's America series. She's also starred on the Ultimates, West Coast Avengers, and A-Force teams. She'll make her film debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as Xochtil Gomez will portray America.
Marvel announced America Chavez: Made In the USA #1 by Kalinda Vazquez and Carlos Gomez earlier this year and just recently shared new details for the series. In the press release, Gomez shared his excitement about America Chavez saying that "there is so much you can do with her, it's insane," and to get ready for a "tons of expected twists." Marvel said the five-issue limited series will reveal more about Chavez's origins and powers with "shocking ramifications to the Marvel Universe," as a whole. As Gomez said, there are so many things America Chavez is capable of doing as a hero, that make her so exciting. She can literally travel the multiverse with ease, which means there are so many possibilities as to where she can go and who she could possibly encounter. Given her massive powers, Marvel has been careful in using her in comics recently - so it's exciting to see her return to her own limited series. Marvel reintroducing America Chavez in her own solo series is smart ahead of the release of her live-action appearance in 2022's Doctor Strange film. America Chavez: Made in The USA #1 will come to comic stores in March 2021.
