Breaking News – The return of the prodigal son!
Congratulations to Declan Shafi on finishing top of the heap! Declan due to TAFCA matches and uni has not played for a while in this competition, but you can`t stop class from rising to the top! He was closely followed by Sam Gregory (r/up) who is no slouch of a player in his own right! A little way behind was Graham Mooney in third place which shows you how strong the field was.
We had 13 players involved and two of them are new members for this season. Dean Miller is a past member, while Freddie Mollison is brand new to Castlehill! (Welcome to not only the greatest show on Earth, but the biggest and best chess club this side of the Milly Way!).
It was a tough baptism for our new members, in a format that can be brutal at times! As both players improve, so will their results, but it can be a bit demoralising when you keep getting beat! Hopefully with our help they will keep going and enjoy their chess.
Not sure what is happening over the next two Thursdays as the club is normally closed at this time of the year. But being online maybe a different kettle of fish, so watch this space!
