Man dies three days after attending father’s funeral

The chairman of the Liopetri local council Kyriakos Trisokkas, died on Friday night aged 70, three days after attending the funeral of his father, 98.

In a post on social media on Sunday the community council announced that Trisokkas had passed away after being taken ill on Friday night, a day after the funeral of his father Georgios Trisokkas.

The funeral was held on Thursday at the local church. On Friday night Trisokkas was admitted to the Famagusta hospital feeling unwell and was transferred to Nicosia where he underwent ‘balloon’ surgery on his heart.

He died early Sunday. Liopetri has entered three days of mourning and flags will fly at half mast throughout local councils in the Famagusta district.

The Union of Municipalities expressed its condolences to the family and relatives.
