A murder charge has been dropped against a woman who is accused over the death of her baby.

Christopher Easey, 30, is charged with the murder of his three-month-old daughter, Eleanor Easey, but prosecutors are no longer pursuing the charge against the infant’s 35-year-old mother, Carly Easey, Norfolk Police said.

The force said the parents, of Old Roman Bank, Terrington St Clement, are both charged with causing or allowing the death of a child and with child cruelty.

Baby Eleanor became unresponsive at home in the village of Morton on the Hill and was taken to hospital in Norwich on December 18 last year, police said.

She was later transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where she died on December 20.

A post-mortem examination recorded that she died from a severe head injury, police said.

It also recorded that she was malnourished and had numerous historical fractures.

Her parents appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday and have been bailed until their trial from March 8.
