Jonathan and Drew Scott from HGTV’s Property Brothers got their start in their hometown of Vancouver, Canada. The identical twin brothers took an early interest in television, film, and production. The pair also has credits in the music industry, thanks to the release of four country songs. While still in Canada, Jonathan gained international recognition as a magician.
Jonathan and Drew are widely recognized as home renovation experts. In 2011, the world came to know the pair when they debuted on Property Brothers, where they help couples to turn fixer-upper properties into dream homes. To achieve their goals, the brothers use state-of-the-art visual technology. The very first episode of the reality show premiered on January 4, 2011, and featured a couple searching for a place to fit their family of 6. The Scott brothers were born on April 28, 1978, in Vancouver, Canada, to Jim and Joanne Scott. The brothers began working as entrepreneurs at the age of 7. Their company JAM (which stood for Jon, Andrew, Mom) allowed the brothers to make thousands of nylon-wrapped hangers. The products were sold door to door. The young brothers remodeled their own bedroom by moving things around (they hung posters of their crushes on the wall whenever their mom was away). They were not always into real estate and home renovations. In fact, they started out as actors in Canada. Jonathan and Drew have over 150 IMDb credits together, for a variety of projects. They appeared together on the teenage Canadian comedy-drama series Breaker High (alongside a young Ryan Gosling) as “Deck Guy #2” and “Angry Student.” Drew has 20 credits as an actor and 37 credits as a producer. After the brothers ventured into real estate during their college years, Drew decided to pursue acting in Vancouver. He was offered a role as the host for Realtor Idol. This ultimately led to Property Brothers. Drew’s acting credits span from 1997 to 2014. They include roles as “Kevin” in the television series Madison, “Creature/Neighbor” in the television series For Your Security, and “Paul Henry” in the television movie Coyote Mountain. In 2006 Drew went on to play the role of “Danny” in Smallville. In 2014. Drew played “Jason Keppler” in the television movie The Christmas Parade. In 2017, Drew tapped into dancing as he starred as a celebrity contestant on Dancing With The Stars season 25, alongside his partner Emma Slater. Drew and his partner were eliminated on the first night of the season finale.
Jonathan has 27 credits as a producer and 9 credits as an actor. In 1994, Jonathan landed his first solo acting gig as “Blue Beret” in an episode of the science-fiction drama television series, X-Files. Following the X-Files, Jonathan played the “Waiter” in the television movie Millennium, and as “Injured Citizen” in the television mini-series Atomic Train.
The brothers have worked together on numerous projects, including four country songs. The two have battled for 6 seasons with selected teams in the home improvement competition Brother vs. Brother. Jonathan and Drew star in a spinoff of the competition series, Brothers Take New Orleans, where they battle head to head in New Orleans. Jonathan is the executive producer of Property Brothers: Linda and Drew Say I Do, which follows Drew and Linda over a period of 3 months, while they prepare for their destination wedding in Italy. In 2018, he also executively produced Wedding Cake Countdown with Drew and Linda, which shows Drew and Linda’s quest to find the perfect wedding cake.
