Tesla Model 3 serving as taxi in NYC

A bright yellow Tesla has become the newest taxi serving New York City. On Wednesday, bystanders on the streets of the Big Apple could be seen snapping photographs of the Tesla Model 3.

The model is owned and operated by Drive Sally, who leases more than 1,000 cabs to ride hail services like Uber and Lyft. The company’s co-founder, Nicholas Williams, said the cars have shown great promise with drivers as well as customers.

“Teslas are really fun to drive. It’s a sexy car, drivers love it,” he stated. “It actually kind of brings the novelty of, you know driving again, making it fun.”

“And, you know, riders love getting into it…it’s clean, it’s quiet, it’s fast,” Williams continued. “It’s obviously extremely safe, and it has technology that’s leaps and bounds ahead of a lot of other more traditional cars.”

Tesla is in talks to provide more taxi models to companies in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.
