Besides the awkward birth control conversations, and third-wheeling mother, Brandon Gibbs and Julia Trubkina from 90 Day Fiancé make for a pretty normal couple. Except they’re not in many TLC-friendly ways. Not only does city clicker and go-go dancer Julia seem to be put off by Brandon’s pigs and farm, she surely seems to be wanting out from his parents Ron and Betty’s overprotective roof. And considering Brandon has revealed that his 90 Day Fiancé has “almost stabbed” him once, listening to Julia might be a good idea.
Dinwiddie, VA lad Brandon was living his single life for 27 years when a friend in Russia decided to play cupid for him and led him to Julia, 26. The 90 Day Fiancé star instantly thought that he’d met his future wife and after meeting several times abroad, Brandon proposed to Julia during a romantic getaway to Iceland. But life in America wasn’t going to be as easy for Julia with Brandon’s mother Betty hovering over them with her suspicions and red flags. Betty being suspicious of Julia using her only son for a green card is scared of the 90 Day Fiancé couple getting pregnant and is trying her best to get Julia and Brandon to sleep in separate rooms. However, Julia is clearly not one to be tamed, made for a farm-life, which might just make 90 Day Fiancé’s Brandon cut his umbilical cord. And to make matters worse, Brandon may have, although jokingly, revealed that Julia has quite a bad temper.

Possibly elated by the festive cheer all around, 90 Day Fiancé’s Brandon took to Instagram to answer a lot of burning fan questions. In his signature sarcasm that TLC fans often get to see on screen, the pest control technician gave cheeky replies to questions about him and Julia being pregnant, and also ones asking about his overbearing mom. Brandon revealed that it was Julia’s “true personality” that made him fall for her, and that they’re also practicing the “safest” kind of sex right now as “Julia doesn’t give him any.” The 90 Day Fiancé star, who knows a little bit of Russian also confessed that it was YouTube and not Julia who taught him the language.

However, a question that asked, “What’s the most difficult part of dating a Russian girl?” from a Portuguese fan is when Brandon revealed how cultural differences had caused them to fight. “One time I walked into Julia’s apartment,” shared Brandon recalling a Russia trip, and added how he “had shoes on.” Brandon revealed how that is “something they do not do in Russia.” The 90 Day Fiancé star then mentioned how Julia had “almost f*cking stabbed” him.
When entering a Russian home, it’s absolutely important to take one’s shoes off and probably replace them with tapochki or slippers that the host may provide. This tradition helps stop the spread of dirt, snow, ice, and sand in someone’s house during the wintertime. While Brandon being unaware could have ticked 90 Day Fiancé’s Julia off, it does show that Julia is not a daughter-in-law to be messed with. Have 90 Day Fiancé fans been blessed with a Larissa Lima 2.0? Will they see an encore of the iconic “who is against the queen will die?" The TLC show just keeps getting better.
90 Day Fiancé airs Mondays at 8pm EST on TLC.
