Warriors pick up Jordan Poole’s third-year option
The 2019 first-round pick will spend a third season with the Dubs.
The Golden State Warriors announced on Tuesday night, following their win over the Detroit Pistons, that they had picked up the third-year option on guard Jordan Poole. The deadline to pick up the option was midnight ET on Tuesday — had the Warriors not exercised it, Poole would have entered free agency next offseason.

Poole, who was an excellent shooter at Michigan before being drafted in the late first round in 2019 by the Warriors, struggled with his shot as a rookie, and put up pretty awful shooting percentages. But he was extremely impressive as a playmaker and passer, and also showed some abilities on defense.
The Warriors have been playing the 21 year old 15 minutes a night this year, suggesting that they see a fair amount of value in what he brings to the court. He seems to be an eager learner, and we’ve already seen a lot of growth and development in his short career, so Golden State exercising the option shouldn’t be surprising at all.
