What TIME WandaVision Releases On Disney+ This Friday

0

After a long wait, here's what time WandaVision releases on Disney+ this Friday, January 15. Not originally planned to be the first out of the gate for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4, WandaVision is now uniquely positioned to launch the next wave of Marvel Studios adaptations, as well as setup the franchise's multiverse story arc. But getting to this point has been long and arduous, primarily due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which had delayed WandaVision and most other MCU releases.

Black Widow was supposed to kick off the new era of Marvel films, but that's been pushed back to May 2021. As for the new Marvel TV shows on Disney+, the first series of its kind (not including Agents of SHIELD and the Marvel series made for Netflix) was supposed to be The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which is now coming shortly after WandaVision ends its first season run. As it stands, WandaVision premieres in mid-January, with The Falcon and the Winter Soldier coming in March, and Loki in May. There's plenty more coming after those shows, though.

WandaVision is scheduled to release on January 15 at midnight PST; 12:01 am PST, 3:01 am EST, and 8:01 am GMT. Similar to Netflix, Disney+ sticks by its schedule; The Mandalorian season 2 episodes released exactly at 12:01 am PST every Friday, and there's no reason to assume WandaVision will be any different. Every new release on Disney+ has followed the same pattern, whereas Amazon Prime is the only streaming service that opts to release new episodes the evenings before the official release dates.

Despite WandaVision's release time being midnight PST, it stands to reason millions of people around the world will be watching new episodes the minute they release. Not every Disney+ series is a major hit, but if The Mandalorian is any indication, WandaVision and the rest of the Marvel shows will be the topic on Fridays - possibly even when theaters reopen and new movies start to release weekly again.

It's been confirmed that WandaVision's first two episodes will release back-to-back on January 15. Unless Disney+ repeats that with another two-episode release, WandaVision will run until March 5, which means there will be a one-week gap between WandaVision's season 1 finale and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's series premiere on March 19. It's unclear if this was a last-minute decision or if Disney and Marvel Studios have planned to have that small break in-between series. What's interesting is that now Marvel can release a WandaVision making-of documentary, similar to the ones for The Mandalorian, on March 12, thus giving Marvel fans some sort of content before The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
